Dr. Grey, what does it mean when a doctor tells me he or she is “board certified”?
A: When a doctor becomes board certified it means that he or she has achieved a high degree of excellency in the chosen field of medicine. A doctor does not need to become board certified before practicing medicine; however board certified physicians undergo rigorous testing and review by specialists in their area of practice. Most importantly, board certified physicians have consistently shown positive outcomes in a patient-focused, responsive manner.
